Methods of work

  • Integrated training for physicians (obstetricians-gynecologists, neonatologists, pediatricians, anesthesiologists) and mid-level health care providers (midwives, nurses) in modern methods of quality hospital and outpatient health care services, as well as prevention of infections.
  • Regular follow-up and support visits by the project experts to the regions and conducting ‘reinforcing’ seminars directly at the workplace in order to provide practical assistance in implementing new approaches.
  • Evaluation of the changes in the activity of the institutions which take part in the project, based on the analysis of the data from official medical statistics and special research studies which enable institutions and administrators  to determine the changes in the knowledge and practical skills of the health care providers, health outcomes for women and infants, as well as the the level of women’s satisfaction with the care that has been provided.  Data provides the basis for decision making to further improve outcomes and services.
  • Information support, providing the health care professionals and the population with educational materials, conducting campaigns in the mass media aimed at the promotion of breastfeeding and reproductive health.
  • Organization of work groups for specialists (obstetricians, neonatologists and pediatricians) and coordination of their work aimed at developing clinical protocols and their implementation into the practice in the regions and at the individual facilities.
  • Continued education for health care providers. To date,  eight training courses have been developed (on family centered maternity care, breastfeeding, care in the antenatal period, family planning, etc.), over 150 seminars have been conducted for 7000 health care providers (administrators and practicing specialists) from more than 200 (at the beginning you state 200 institutions) health care institutions which provide care for approximately 10 million people.
  • Development of guidelines, recommendations, clinical protocols (12), educational video films and commercials (“Family centered maternity care”, “HIV testing”, “Hand washing”, etc.).
  • Interventions are designed in collaboration with the participating regions and institutions to meet their particular needs and priorities.
