Breast Cancer: Study of the Situation project
With the support of the Ministry of Health and Social Development of the Russian Federation and the ‘Joint’ American Jewish United Committee, IFH has conducted a study on the experience of women who had encountered breast cancer and the effectiveness and accessibility of the existing in and educational materials on breast cancer and its prevention in four regions of Russia. The goal of this research is to study the awareness level of women and health care providers regarding breast cancer, the experience of women who have survived this disease, and the methods for breast cancer prevention in primary health care facilities as well as providing social and psychological support to the patients. We hope that the results which have been obtained will facilitate the improvement of the diagnostics and treatment of this widely prevalent disease.
Сontinuation of collaboration was development of promotion materials about breast cancer under support of the Federal Mammological Center of the Russian Ministry of Health and Social Development. The Institute for Family Health created the manual “What is necessary to know about diagnostics and treatment of breast cancer”, which is for women who are diagnosed with this disease. Its goal is to give the basic information about breast cancer, methods of diagnostics, treatment and social-psychological support.
The goals of the brochure on prevention of breast cancer “Check and be healthy!” is to form responsible behavior to health among women and to inform about risk factors and methods of diagnostics.
