Support of high-risk womenJanuary 26 – 27 2012 in Tyumen under the Institutionalizing Best Practices in Maternal and Child Health Project the Institute for Family Health conducted the workshop “Medical – social care for high risk women”. Healthcare policymakers, heads of medical and social care facilities of Tyumenskaya oblast and Khanti-Masniysky Autonomous District attended the meeting.

The II Workshop on Development of Guidelines on perinatal care regionalizationUnder the Institutionalizing Best Practices in Maternal and Child Health (IBP MCH) Project the second workshop devoted to development of Guidelines on perinatal care regionalization was conducted in Yekaterinburg. This document is aimed for Russian sites and contains international and national experience of effective maternal and child health care delivery based on international and national data and best evidence-based practices.

IFH/IBP MCH Project participates in the II Ural OB-GYN Congress in RussiaThe leading specialists of the Institutionalizing Best Practices in Maternal and Child Health (IPB MCH) Project and the Institute for Family Health attended the II Ural OB-GYN Congress. “Modernization of maternal and child health services”, which was held on December 06 – 08 2011 in Yekaterinburg.

IFH conducted the Study Tour to USA for Moscow Maternity Hospital # 4US-Russian collaboration on MCH topics under the US-Russia Presidential Commission has been intensifying, thanks to USAID support. A just-concluded study tour to Syracuse, New York, conducted by the Institutionalizing Best Practices in Maternal and Child Health (IBP-MCH) Project is an outstanding example of a highly fruitful professional collaboration.The tour was conducted on November 27 - December 02 2011.

IFH continues anti-smoking campaignsThe Institute for Family Health is highly involved into stop smoking programs. IFH actions are based on WHO Framework Convention on Tobacco Control and successful international/national experience. Cigarette smoking is the leading preventable cause of death and has the well-documented negative health consequences.
